RIRA (Space for  initiatives involving sustainable heat and cold by retrofitting): Amstel III Area (2019-2021)

When existing commercial properties want to reduce co2 emissions, heating and cooling networks can be an interesting option! Why? Commercial properties are often situated in a clustered environment of business parks. Also, property owners like to outsource energy supplies, building management and exploitation to professional service providers. However we need a system change in order to facilitate the use of heating and cooling networks. ‘Open’ heating and cooling networks need to be applied with a limitation between modular energy services on the one hand and grid management on the other hand. This ‘open’ system can be made possible with an economic, technical and organisational framework. In the Amstel III are (Amsterdam Z-O) TKI-RIRA is assessing results with stakeholders. Afterwards they are intending to realise an open heating and cooling network.

In the Amstel III (Amsterdam Z-O) TKI-RIRA is assessing results with stakeholders. Afterwards they are intending to realise an open heating and cooling network. The Amstel III business park is 250 ha. and exists of an office parc of 720.000 m2 and a business zone. Recently they have taken a new approach with a gradual transformation from single purpose business area to a multipurpose mixed urban working and living area in the office zone, and a mixed working area in the business zone.
